I did not have to vote for President Barak Obama nor do I have to agree with and like all the polices put in place during his administration in order to honor and thank this amazing man for serving our country. When our feeds are full of what is wrong in this world, I’ll fill our feeds with what is right.
Eight-years ago, our country united and elected our first African-American and our 44th President. He transcended centuries of inequality by taking office and I was never more proud to be an American. He absolutely deserves our gratitude for serving, but the fact that he persevered and became a forerunner for equality for ALL encouraged me to cheer him on throughout his presidency.
The second paragraph of the United States Declaration of Independence starts as follows: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that ALL men were created equal, that they were endowed by their Creator with certain undeniable Rights, that amongst these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
Let’s remember this today and every day here forward. Let’s focus on what is right in this world and follow President Obama’s example by leading our lives with grace and integrity, living a life that truly says, “Yes. ALL are created equal.”
President Obama, thank you.
